Sasha Luncheon!
|
Pictures are now up in the Show & Tell section.
02/21/2004 UPDATE:
Today was the "Who Can Buy Sasha" luncheon and we all met at the Kerbey Lane Cafe on 183
in Austin, Texas!!! We had a great time! Karl and Kathy each brought picture books of their
collections and head vase purchases through the years. We all enjoyed seeing these, how organized
they are!! Everybody helped pull the names and everybody was pulled for something. We started
out with the Sasha heads that I had available, then the remainder of the names were pulled for
gift certificates or other goodies. I'll be contacting each of you very soon with the results!!
After the lunch, everybody wanted to see chrissy.com so we headed over to the shop and visited
some more. Nobody left empty-handed. We also named our group as this is actually the first
group of people that got together as part of "CHIC". We named ourselves "The Head Vase Cotillion of Texas" or -
"HVCT". We plan to get together again. I'll put the pictures up this weekend. These folks came
from Dallas, San Antonio, & Houston. Great fun!!

I started a new section of fakes. From the menu of links on the left,
you will find them in "Fakes & New 2002" - this is where I will add
all future NEW heads that I find. The format is much easier to add to the site. You
can still see and read about the original fakes by choosing from
the side menu of links - "Fakes!". If you know of other new ones, please
let me know so we can share with the other head vase collectors.

Find Out About FAKE Head Vases!
Lately we've all noticed a LOT of FAKE heads being sold on Ebay.
Nobody would have any problem with that except the sellers
are describing these FAKES as "Vintage", "Made In Japan", or calling them out as one from
the original manufacturers of the 40,'s 50's, and 60's. We noticed one this month
being called out as an "Inarco" and it sold for 130.00 to the high bidder who surely
didn't know that she was bidding on a head that was MADE IN CHINA - this year! Some of us had been emailing the
sellers and bidders with warnings but ebay's policy calls this "interference with an auction"
and it is prohibited. However, there is nothing illegal about inviting someone
over here to "learn about Lady Head Vases" - so spread the word, email whomever
you want and invite them to this page.
I've received several emails this week
from other collectors and we are all disgusted to see the sellers trying to
sell these cheap FAKE heads as vintage and antique heads. Sell them, but describe
what you are selling as what it REALLY is!!
If you are a new collector, educate yourself on these reproductions. As with any popular
collection, the fakes and reproductions will not go away, there will just be more
and more, and you have to know whats out there. If you want them in your
collections, make sure you are not overpaying for them. Don't let FALSE advertising
get you.........and SPREAD THE WORD!

Thank you for visiting our website today! This website was started back
in October of 1996. At that time there was NOBODY on the web. Isn't
it amazing how many collectors are on-line now!
I am crazy for anything that resembles or relates to the
lady head vases from the 50's and 60's. Along with my collection
of Vintage Lady Heads, I am also a huge collector of Limoges Boxes and other
porcelains, so you will find a lot more than just the lady vases at this website.
While I am always searching for the original ladies when I travel about,
I don't often find them. So, as I find both NEW collectibles with a "Lady Theme",
and original Lady Head Vases, I will add them to this site.
There has been a lot of concern lately about the Fake and reproduction
Lady Head Vases. In my opinion, the only crime is in their misrepresentation.
Myself, I am always excited to find something new related to the ladies, but I want
to know that it is new and I don't want to pay a ridiculous amount of
money for it. At this site, everything will be clearly marked
if it is NEW or FAKE. If you don't like new pieces or fake
pieces, you simply don't buy them, and I see no possiblity of these new
pieces ever bringing down the values of our real vintage collectibles.
If you have information to share, please email us and we'll be happy to post it on our Show & Tell pages or
our News & Event pages. We also welcome new ideas for this website.
Tell me about your collection!!
