About Halcyon Days Enamels

More than five thousand different Halcyon Days Enamels designs have been produced by the Bilston factory and the brand has achieved an incomparable reputation world-wide. The outstanding variety of designs for these enamels is frequently inspired by historic artifacts. The inspiration for a design might be a detail from an ancient tapestry, a famous painting, a motto or quotation, a special corporate commission or an original 18th-century enamel in Halcyon Days' collection of antiques - the possibilities are almost limitless. The superior quality of Halcyon Days Enamels has attracted even royal attention. Between 1972 and 1978, Halcyon Days was granted the royal warrants of the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen Mother and the Prince of Wales. To this day, Halcyon Days is the ONLY "suppliers of Objects d'Art" to the royal family and one of only eight firms to hold all four royal warrants. Today, Halcyon Days enamel and porcelain collectibles are available worldwide. Famous collectors of the enamels include Elton John, Maria Schreiver, Diane Keaton, Demi Moore, Jayne Seymour, Betty Ford, Hillary Rodham Clinton and the Royal Family.

England has been famous for the manufacture of works of art throughout the centuries. One of the most fascinating types of all is the enamel on copper box which enjoyed enormous popularity during the second half of the 18th century. They provided a charming means of expresing affection or commemorating a noteworthy event in the form of a small gift. These boxes are now valuable antiques!

Times have not changed as much as one might think. When Halcyon Days revived the Georgian craft of enamelling more than 30 years ago, the hand-painted enamel boxes proved to be as popular as ever.
